See all the rankings »National Rankings The 2017 Best High Schools rankings awards the top 6,041 public high schools with gold, silver and bronze medals, indicating their level of college readiness. Best STEM Schools U.S. News looked at the top 500 public high schools to identify the best in science, technology, engineering and math education. Best Charter Schools Charter schools are public schools that operate under charters, tend to have limited enrollment and usually accept students through an application process. Best Magnet Schools Magnet schools may attract the most talented students in a region via an application process, often involving test scores and grade-point averages. The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 22,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Pacific Collegiate School places a strong emphasis on technology and cultural awareness. Students at the Pacific Collegiate School must also complete at least 20 hours of community service per year. Parents are also called on to serve, and the school asks each parent to dedicate volunteer hours to help at the school.
